ACADEMIC REGALIA
Tuesday, March 1 - Friday, April 1, 2022
Rental caps, gowns, and hoods will be provided to all law school graduates through the Herff Jones Company. All ordered regalia should be delivered no later than May 1, 2022. If you missed the April 1, 2022, deadline for ordering regalia, please contact Dean Tammy Tideswell as soon as possible at [email protected].
Regalia should be returned to Herff Jones immediately after commencement in the same box it was received in and with the prepaid shipping label provided.

Pro bono Recognition Celebration

Invitation Only - This event is for graduates only
The Pro Bono Recognition Celebration will be held at Betts Theatre, University Student Center, 800 21st Street NW, Washington, DC. Please note that this event is by invitation only.
The Pro Bono Recognition Celebration Reception will be held on the 1st floor of the law school from 3–5 pm following the recognition celebration.
Academic Awards Ceremony

The Academic Awards Ceremony will be held at Betts Theatre, University Student Center, 800 21st Street NW, Washington, DC. Please note that this event is by invitation only.
The Academic Awards Ceremony Reception will be held from 12-1:30 pm at the Marc C. Abrahms Great Hall, University Student Center prior to the awards ceremony.

The Dean’s Reception will be held at the National Portrait Gallery (Smithsonian Institution) at 8th and G Streets NW, Washington, DC. Each graduate will receive 3 electronic tickets for family and friends.
University-wide commencement celebration

The University Commencement Ceremony on the Mall will begin with the academic procession at 10 am, and remarks will begin at 10:30 am. Each graduate will receive 6 electronic tickets for family and friends.

Law School diploma Celebration

The Law School Diploma Ceremony will be held at the Charles E. Smith Center, 600 22nd Street NW, Washington, DC. The academic procession will begin at Funger Hall at 2:30 pm, and remarks will begin at 3 pm. Each graduate will receive 5 electronic tickets for family and friends.
Special Notes
Guests and Registration - Information about registration for our graduates and their guests is forthcoming.
Vaccine Requirement - For all Commencement Week events, all guests and visitors aged 5 and older must be up to date on their COVID-19 vaccines (i.e., fully vaccinated and boosted, if eligible). Limited exemptions will be permitted for those who submit a medical or religious exemption. Information about providing proof of vaccination or exemption for these events is forthcoming.
Additional Public Health Information - Guidance on mask wearing and other public health measures will be provided later this spring.
