John Ordronaux 1L Award

The John Ordronaux awards recognize exceptional performance during a single year of law school. Each winner receives a monetary award and a Dean’s Certificate. The first Ordronaux award recognizes the member of the graduating Juris Doctor class who attained the highest cumulative average in the first year, full-time course of study. This year, with an exact GPA of 4.011, there was a tie: Paul Aylward, II and Kayvon Ghayoumi.

The John Ordronaux awards recognize exceptional performance during a single year of law school. Each winner receives a monetary award and a Dean’s Certificate. The second Ordronaux award recognizes academic  achievement in the second year, full-time course of study.  With a second year GPA of 4.159, the winner is Paul Aylward II. 

Willard Waddington Gatchell Awards

The Willard Waddington Gatchell Awards recognize the three members of the graduating Juris Doctor class who have attained the highest cumulative averages over their entire law school careers. The recipients of this award have worked hard in each course, each semester, each of their years in law school. Each recipient will be given a monetary award and a Dean’s Certificate of Achievement.

John Bell Larner Award

The John Bell Larner Award is given to the member of the graduating Juris Doctor class who attained the highest cumulative average in the entire course for the degree. This is the last award that is calculated after all grades are recorded. It represents an extraordinary effort by the student with the highest distinction for overall academic excellence in the graduating class.  

The 2020 John Bell Larner Award winner is Paul Aylward, II. Paul will receive a monetary award, a Dean’s Certificate of Achievement, and an engraved gavel.

Paul earned his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the City College of New York.
He was also managing editor for The George Washington Law Review
