Letter from Dean Bracey

Christopher Alan BraceyCongratulations Class of 2020!  I know that you have looked forward to this day for a long time. Commencement is the culmination of years of hard work by not only students, but your families and other loved ones. I commend you on successfully completing your studies during one of the most difficult times in recent history.

Your final semester at GW Law was marked by an unprecedented global pandemic, creating more challenges than any of us anticipated. In spite of those challenges, each one of you has accomplished what you set out to do when you walked into our doors as a first-year student. Today, you become a lawyer.

I have had the incredible privilege of serving as your Interim Dean this academic year. During this last semester, perhaps one of the most challenging I have experienced as an administrator, I have found myself energized and inspired by the relentless strength and spirit of the class of 2020. You came here to change the world. And now, I have no doubt that you will do just that.

On behalf of our entire faculty and staff, congratulations on reaching this significant milestone. I am deeply grateful for your resilience in the face of adversity. We are committed to celebrating this milestone with you, and until then, I send my very best wishes to each of you for good health, happiness, and success.

You will forever be part of the GW Law alumni family. As you write the next chapter in our law school’s rich and enduring history, remember that with the knowledge and skills you have acquired comes a responsibility to enrich society and work for the greater good. If you do, your rewards will be many.

Sincerely,

Christopher Alan Bracey
