Finnegan Prizes in Intellectual Property Law
The Finnegan Prizes are sponsored by the law firm of Finnegan Henderson, which has long been a leader in IP practice and a friend to the law school. These prizes are awarded every year to the Juris Doctor or LLM students who produce the best publishable articles on Intellectual Property law. Each winner receives a Dean’s Certificate and a monetary award. While the 2020 competition will not be completed until the end of the summer, the 2019 competition included two winners that graduate this year.
Jeffrey D. Merrill won second place in the 2019 competition for his paper entitled: “The Doctrine of Equivalents: Rising from the Dead, or Never Met Its Demise?” Jeff graduated from Brigham Young University with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. He was the staff editor for the American Intellectual Property Law Association Quarterly Journal.
